Gay Marriage/Proposition 8

This is something I've been wanting to discuss for awhile now. How do you all feel about gay marriage? And the passing of proposition 8 in california, arizona and florida. For those who don't know, this bill went up in those 3 states to successfully ban gay marriage. It passed in all 3 states, much to the dismay of the gay community who has begun protesting and, in some cases, rioting in response to the passing of this bill.

Now, I'm an atheist, been one for afew years now. And I don't believe in discrimination at all. Even if gay marriage is banned, then those same-sex couples should be given equal rights to visit if the other is in the hospital, or should be legally in charge of the others posessions if something bad were to happen. It's just funny how this kind of discrimination is acceptable just because you don't agree with the lifestyle. America is supposed to stand for free...freedom for all, not for some. People came here to escape discrimination of religion, and other things but like racism, discrimination is running as rampant as the sky is blue. Anyway, how do you feel about this issue?

In Denmark the question is not whether or not they can get married, but whether or not they can get married in a church. Everyone can get married at the city hall if they want to, but only straight couples can get married in a church.
From my personal point of view, I don't really care. I'm not a member of the church and therefore I think that they can do what ever they want to.
But I can see the problem of gay people wanting to be married in a church that celebrates a religion which doesn't approve of gay marriages (as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong). If I was gay, I would find it strange to be married in a church when christianity doesn't approve of homosexuality.

but still the bible doesnt say anything about gay.
that its not allowed
but there only stands that a man and a women
it never saids gay arent allowed to mary or anything at all
it just say asshole who is just afraid of changes and what to run from them
but he doesnt know how.
so he saids that gays are evil and that stuff
i think we should accept every one the way he is.
as long if he doesnt hurt anyone he doesnt do anything wrong in my eyes

I agree with Jome. It does state in Christianity that homosexual marriage is wrong, but people still get married in churches.

My opinion about gay marriage, I have nothing wrong with it, and frankly don't care about it either. Its the people's decision if they suddenly decide "boobies are bad".
